Just a little pointer... if in your savegame you have edited the option "Speech and Text" to "Game Mode", the subs should appear without needing to press the B button, excepting the Passport heads talking about the game.
Now what I think we have left to sub and translate is the Epilogue in Shenmue 1.

I think the russian comrades will like this. You need to mix A7 with A1 to BF, maybe further than that (These are hex numbers)
It's not the first time Kaspersky kills an app on my computer that is related to dreamcast ISO creation, so I don't think you should worry too much. I'm just giving the warning.

And a bad news: Kaspersky IS detects Dreamcast Test Environment/engine/auto.binhack.exe as Trojan.Win32.Regrun.ghd.

EDIT: There's other bugs on the Subtitle preview... there are missing characters. Ó, ó, Ú, ú; I believe.
I reconstructed it on a TTF by myself. But it probably has only the Spanish characters, if you give me a bit of time to add basic european support...

Seems I forgot that there's three other translatable files there. The compass, which I presume it's the same as in Spanish (North, East, West, South; Norte, Este, Oeste, Sur; Nord, Est, Ouest, Sud), A Oui/Non buttons, and the PRACTICE window, which I do not have the words yet. (Yes, these are the repeated files on the COMICON.SPR)
Found both Now Loading and Help button. Cos I hear some sort of lack of confidence on the discovery, how is HELP said in French? Cos I know Loading is Chargement.
The tools are already made, at least PVR Extractor had a reinsert feature, if the size was right (And it can be perfect with the small hex job I said):

As for working on ripped version or full GD version, I'll have to talk with the guy who asked me for help (I'm working with Ryo Suzuki, from the SegaSaturno forums, but it went missing on the last weeks).
The textures are actually on the file MISC\TEXTURES.PKS . First, you need to rename the file to GZ and extract the actual PKS.
Then, extract the PVRs with PVR Extractor. Edit the textures, then via hex editor change the GBIX to PVRT code (Both Photoshop and WinPVR don't make the PVRs exactly as Shenmue was), then reinsert with the PVR Extractor.
I have a bug on the AFS Utils. When using Shenmue I PAL content on v2.1 of the tools, the files extracted are named as file_*** (* mean numbers), not as srf/adx/ whatever.
Also, what's the status on the Ryo's Diary for Shenmue 1?
