  1. Nice hearing from you people. Good luck with Shenmue 1, and as always, if I can help you with stuff, just ask. I might have a translation installer for you people.
  2. Somebody sent me a fake email from this post... Anybody else got it? It sends me to a different address.
  3. Thought they were not on the AFS, rather on the SND (DTPK) files. Check for a BATTLE(Don't know the rest of the name) file.
  4. Well, when you unpack a AFS that only releases "file_X" in Shenmue, that's because you're using a release that has modified the audio files, rendering them useless for translation.
  5. You'd take less time if you made a tool that parses the XML files. Sizious' a busy man, and anyone with a minimum level of coding could do it.
  6. You want to easily export the subtitles to a Google Translate page?
  7. I'm here to announce that today, SegaSaturno.com and Traducciones del Tío Víctor have released the first version of the Spanish patch for Shenmue I. The patch translates almost everything, plus it dubs two cutscenes, the starting Prophecy and the departure from Amihama. We're also using a different system for releasing the translation, with a patcher that weighs only 25MB. Here's the final trailer:
  8. Maybe I can help write the S1 How to, if you want. But be warned: I'll need some English corrector.
  9. Great job, allow me to give you some additional help: You placed a partial list of the contents of each AFS, each disc. I'll give you the entire list, separated by discs (Although, as I've found, the best thing to do is to make a pool with all the AFS because they are shared, though two AFS from disc 4 that have identical names as with the rest of the game, ARE different. Careful!) Sorry for the English, I translated these from my Spanish notes in a rush. I also reccomend you to order the Character code names (XXXX) by their alphabetic order of those codes, as this will be more useful for someone who is editing HUMANS than anything else.
  10. Tough. The lines are muted and the next line sounds inmediately. This requires to dump the japanese audio, then making a new audio for the Europe version. I have experience creating new .STRs, send me via PM the japanese file. There's also Plan B: Check out the FACE AFS files inside Disc 4, and hope those are sliced and diced or single-filed like on your A0100.
  11. No, you should be able to edit those 10 empty subs with the Cinematics Editor, as usual.
  12. Hmm, Can you rip the audio file that's inside A0100? You should use the ADPCM Streaming Toolkit located in the ShenmueSubs kit. If the whole speech is on that file, then we have a problem (That can be solved). The English version had 10 subtitles, one per line.
  13. 1) If you mean Amihama, check out the MXXX folders on SCENE/02 and SCENE/03. 2) The subs DO exist, it's just that they are blanked out, both in English and in Japanese. The file is A0100.AFS/IDX. If you want to add the subs, the last version of the Cinematics Editor allows to edit the blanked out subs.
  14. I hope you found the vending machines stuff. I don't know that much the Japanese version of Shenmue I; I only knew of lines untranslated, the vending machine (There's a couple of trademarks that supported the game in Japan but backed off on the West, such as Coca-Cola), and the ingame maps of Dobuita, Sakuragaoka and Amihama; which have some differences in the layout. You should check if there's more companies on the game's credits that left on the western version. Oh, and I'm eager to see this info/tutorial. You're welcome.
  15. Shenmue I and Shenmue II totally use different methods for subtitling the HUMANS. Shenmue II takes the subs from HUMANS files, with a couple of exceptions. Shenmue I takes the subs from the FREEXX .SRF files, but if these are pretty much fucked up (Per example, if you regenerate the FREEXX.IDX without using a template), the subs are read from HUMANS, even if the game has no voices. So if you don't mess the FREEXX, you don't need to edit the HUMANS on the game. But, of course, if we're talking about the Japanese voices, maybe the japanese HUMANS is needed so the voices doesn't mix together...
