Changing The Music In The PS2 Game This guide is if you want to change your Game Music in Smack Dwon, HEre comes the pain but im sure you can change music in the games that are simaler format to Smack Down Tools (Software Programs & Hardware Components) You Need AFS Explorer Modified PS2. Can be modified with a mod chip or slide card. Konvertor ADXEncd Nero Burning Rom 6.3 A DVD+-RW Burner Drive Sound Recorder DVD-R Blank Media Wav Splitter Computer. (Obviously) This tutorial came from the hard work of gladiator4life. I have personally tried out this method and it does work. STEP 1 - COPYING YOUR ORIGINAL HCTP DVD ON YOUR HARDRIVE You must have a DVD-Rom/ DVD Burner Drive in your computer to read the Original Smackdown Disc. - First create a folder on you hard drive name "hctp". Put this folder in your "c:\" directory. Therefore the folder should have the following path: "c:\htcp". - Insert your HCTP in your DVD-Rom Drive and copy all of the contents of the DVD into the folder that you just created. STEP 2 - USING AFS EXPLORER TO SEE WHAT MUSIC YOU WANT TO REPLACE AND WHAT YOU'D LIKE TO REPLACE IT WITH - Open up AFS EXPORER and click on File / Import AFS File and browse for the BGM Folder in: "c:\hctp\BGM". You will see a bunch of AFS Files BGM001.AFS and so forth. Each of these files contains all the music in HCTP in ADX format. We are only concerned with BGM001.AFS, BGM002.AFS, BGM003.AFS and BGM004.AFS. - Okay lets load BGM001.AFS. You see the list of ADX songs, those songs are the Background Music of HCTP which plays in the Main Menu of HCTP and also in the background during matches in Random Order. You can Right Click on each ADX file and listen to them if you wish. The ADX files that are in BGM001.AFS are bgm040.adx through bgm055.adx. Ok first thing we are going to do is to find all the songs in hctp that you want to replace (write them down) and also write down what you'd like to replace them with. You'll need to do this now to keep track and be organized. STEP 3 - USING AFS EXPLORER TO EXPORT ALL OF THE ADX FILES TO YOUR HARDRIVE/ AND USING KONVERTORE TO CONVERT THOSE ADX FILES TO WAV FILES IN ORDER TO FIND OUT THE SONG LENGTH OF EACH TRACK YOU WOULD LIKE TO REPLACE - Ok open up AFS EXPORER and click on File / Import AFS File and open up BGM001.AFS. This step entails you to export all of the songs you want to replace onto your "c:\" directory so we can convert them later in WAV format with KONVERTORE so we can find out the length of each file. You would have to Right Click on each ADX file you want to replace and Click Export, then export them to your "c:\" directory. I'm sure you want to replace all of the Background Music with your own custom music so I've done the work for you for BGM001.AFS. - Look above and copy down the length of all the songs (bgm040.adx through bgm055.adx). Also next to them right down the name of the songs you'd like to replace them with. Ok that's just BGM001.AFS. Now you're going to have to do it on your own for all the files you want to replace. I'm sure you want to replace tracks in BGM002.AFS, and BGM003.AFS with updated themes (like RVD's, and Kane's new themes) (you also want to replace the themes in BGM004.AFS which contains all of the originals but hold off on this because the originals are only 30 seconds long and I'm going to show you how to make them 1 minute long each in the next Step). For each track you want to replace, do exactly as follows: - Export all the ADX files (from BGM002.AFS and BGM003.AFS) that you'd like to replace to your "c:\" directory. To do this you must Click on File / Import AFS File and open up BGM002.AFS or BGM002.AFS in AFS Explorer (do one at a time), and when it's loaded. Right click on each ADX File and Click Play. If you would like to replace that particular ADX file, then Right Click on it and Click Export File and Browse to the "c:\" directory and export them there. - All of the ADX files from BGM002.AFS and BGM003.AFS that you'd like to replace should now be on your "c:" directory. Now open up KONVERTORE and click on the Audio Tab at the upper left corner of the program and make sure that All Known Image Formats is highlighted in the drop down menu above. - Now use the file tree on the left to browse to the "c:\" directory where you have all your ADX files that you'd like to replace. They should all appear on the right hand side of the program now. - Ok now look on the upper right hand corner of the program: Under Export choose the path where you want your new WAV files to be created. Please choose “c:\” for the path to make it easier. - Now use the drop down menu to change the export file type from 8SVX to WAV. Double click all your ADX files so that they appear in the lower left hand window in Konvertor. - Now click the big “K” icon to convert your files to wav format. - When they are all converted to WAV, browse to the "c:\" drive and play each of these WAV files and write down the length of the song. You can delete all those ADX and WAV files now as you have no use for them but make sure you delete them only after writing everything down. STEP 4 - MAKING THE ORIGINALS LONGER UP TO A MINUTE IN LENGTH BY DOUBLING THE RESERVED SPACE - Ok open up AFS EXPORER and click on File / Import AFS File and open up BGM004.AFS. This AFS File contains all of the Original tracks that I'm sure all of you would like to replace. Problem is that they are just too short. Here's how we're going to make them longer by Modifying the Reserved Space. - Now that you have BGM004.AFS loaded, Click on Advanced / Modify Reserved Space at the top Menu. You'll see the complete list of ADX files which are the Originals. - Ok highlight the first one bgm160.adx. It should now be highlighted in gray. You see that number in the Original res. slot, multiply it by 2. - Now change it to the new number by going to Bytes reserved to file = at the upper right hand corner and keep clicking the up arrow until you get to that new figure. When you get the new figure that should be doubled in size, then click on bgm161.adx and repeat the process again (multiply that number in the Original res. slot by 2 and change it then click on bgm162.adx and so forth). Ok this is a long tedious process as the last file to modify will be bgm180adx. - When you're done modifying the reserved space for all these files, then Click on Regenerate AFS! at the the upper left hand corner. Now you're going to save the new file as BGM004.AFS on you Desktop. - Then just take this BGM004.AFS and drag it to the folder "c:\htcp\BGM" where you have the older BGM004.AFS file and just replace it with this one. That's it, you're originals can now be up to 1 min long. Now write down all the songs that you'd like to replace the originals with just as I have done above keeping in mind that they all are going to be 1 min in length. STEP 5 - GATHERING ALL THE WAV FILES THAT YOU WANT IN THE GAME (YOUR OWN BACKGROUND MUSIC AND ENTRANCE THEME MUSIC) AND USING WAVE SPLITTER TO SPLIT THEM TO THE CORRECT LENGTH OF THE TRACKS THAT YOU ARE REPLACING By now you should have a list of all the music that you want to replace in the game, and all of your own music that you'd like to replace them with. All your files should be in WAV format. If they are in MP3 format, please convert them to WAV format before you proceed. - Ok take all of your WAV files that you want in the game (both background and entrance music, and place them in the "c:\" directory. Now if you haven't done so already, plan which WAV files you want to place in your game and which of the ADX files you’d be assigning it too. - Open up WAVE SPLITTER and click on Wave File To Split. Point to the WAV file you need to trim. You must trim the new WAV to the same time length as the ADX you’re going to replace. - Point to Save Split File As. It is recommended that you choose “c:\” You must also name your new file the same name as the ADX file your replacing, example: if you are replacing bgm160.adx, then you have to name the file bgm160.wav Please notice that I also typed ".wav" after "bgm160". - Go down to Sample Selection, leave “start at” at 0 if you want the new to start from the beginning. If the file you’re replacing is 30 seconds long then go to End at and type 30000. If it is 1 minute then you would type 60000 and so on and so forth. NOTE: Since we modified the reserve space, all the originals that you want to replace should be replaced with tracks that are 1 minute in length. Therefore, make sure all those tracks that you are replacing the originals with are trimmed to 1 minute. - Click the Go button and watch as your file is now trimmed to the specified time length. - Repeat these steps for all the songs you want to replace. And don't forget to change each song to the length it needs to be. Go to "c:\" when you're done, and check your new WAV files and see if they are the correct name and length. STEP 6 - USING SOUND RECORDER TO CHANGE THE QUALITY OF YOUR WAV FILES TO A BETTER QUALITY (48000 kHZ and 16 Bits Stereo) This is a very important step which most people forget. If your WAV files are not changed to this quality, then your game will freeze when it comes to play these tracks. We are going to use SOUND RECORDER to carry out this process. - Ok open up SOUND RECORDER and click on File / Open and Browse for one of the new trimmed WAV File you just created. Lets use bgm160.wav as an example. They should all be in the "c:\" directory if u followed my instructions. - When the file is loaded onto SOUND RECORDER Click on File / Save As and then Click on the Change Button at the bottom. A new window will pop up. - Set the Format to PCM. Set the Attribute to 48 000 kHz, 16 Bits, Stereo, 187kb/ sec. When you're done. Click OK and you should be back to the Browse Screen. Choose to Save the new WAV file over the old one (bgm160.wav) in the "c:\" directory. - Repeat for all the wav files that you want in the game. Make sure you convert them all to the quality listed above because if you don't, your game will freeze when it comes time to play that track in the game itself. If your game freezes on a certain song, then you'll know it's because you forgot to change it to: 48 000 kHz, 16 Bits, Stereo, 187kb/ sec. STEP 7 - USING ADXENCD TO CONVERT YOUR NEW WAV FILES TO ADX FILES Ok you should now have all the wav files in your c:\ directory that you'd want in the game and they should have all been converted to the quality stated above in the previous step. We are now going to use ADXENCD to Convert those WAV Files to ADX Files. - Copy adxencd.exe to your c:\ directory where all of your WAV files are located. - Now open up your MS DOS Prompt and type "cd.." until you get to the "c:\" command prompt. - Lets start off with bgm160.adx. Let's type the following code: "adxencd.exe bgm160.wav" You should now see your bgm160.wav being converted to bgm160.adx. - Repeat the above process until all of your WAV files a converted to ADX files. STEP 8 - IMPORTING THE NEW ADX FILES INTO THE GAME USING AFS EXPLORER Be very proud of yourself. You now have your music in ADX File Format which will now be imported into BGM001.AFS - BGM004.AFS. - Open up AFS EXPORER and click on File / Import AFS File and open up BGM001.AFS which should be in your "c:\htcp\BGM" directory if you've followed my directions from the beginning. -Right Click on each ADX file you want to replace and Click Import File and Browse to the "c:\" directory where you should have all of your new ADX files if you followed my directions. Import the file of the same name. Therefore if you want to replace bgm052.adx, you would browse for the bgm052.adx in the "c:\" directory and then import it to BGM001.AFS. - Now when you import that file it's either going to say one of two things. The first being that "The File is too Small and needs to be Padded with Zeroes". This is OK. Just Click Ok and watch your new file imported to BGM001.AFS. The second thing it might say is "The File is too Big". This is what you have to be worried about. If this is the case, then you'll have to go all the way back to the WAV file that corresponds to this ADX file, and use WAVE SPLITTER again to take off one second off that file, then convert it back to ADX and Import it again. - If you did the above step right, Right Click on the file you just imported and Click on Play and hear your music play. If it plays fine, then you did it right. If not then you've got to retrace your steps and see what you did wrong. - Repeat the above steps for all of the ADX files that you want imported in the game into BGM002.AFS, BGM003.AFS, and BGM004.AFS and test out if each one plays alright in AFS EXPORER. STEP 9 - BURNING YOUR UPDATED SMACKDOWN HCTP ON DVD-R WITH NERO 6.3 Ok the moment of truth. You are now going to burn yourself your new Updated Smackdown Here Comes The Pain game using NERO BURNING ROM 6.3. - First make sure you have a Blank DVD-R Disc in your DVD Burner. - Open up NERO BURNING ROM 6.3 and watch for the New Compilation Screen to come up. - At the top left hand corner of that screen, change the Drop Down Menu from "CD" to "DVD" if it's not already selected. - Now scroll down to the DVD-Rom (UDF/ISO) Option on the left hand side of the Screen. - Click on the Multisession Tab on the Right and select No Multisession. - Now Click the Label Tab and change the ISO990 Label to "SMACKDOWN". - Now when you are done, Click the NEW Button which is all the way on the right of the Screen. A new window should now pop up with 4 Columns. - Under File Browser in the Third Column Browse for your "c:\hctp" Folder. All the files that needs to be burnt should now appear in the Fourth Column. You should have a total of 17 Files and Folders. - Now Drag ALL of those files to the First Column (Under the SMACKDOWN Disc). - Last thing before the burn is to look at the Upper Menu of NERO BURNING ROM and make sure your DVD Burner Drive is highlighted in the Drop Down Menu as your Burn Device. - Ok time to Burn. On the Upper Menu of NERO BURNING ROM , Click the Burns the Current Compilation ICON. It's the ICON that looks like a Match is being Lit up on a Disc. You should now be in the Burn Compilation Screen. Under Action only Check Write and Finalize CD (if it's available to check). Change the Write Speed to 1X. - FINALLY! Just Click the Burn Button on the right hand side of the Screen and watch as your new copy of HCTP is burning with New Updated Background Music and Entrance Themes! CREDIT TO gladiator4life
